
Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. 2. She is an American actor. Her name is well-known due to her performance across many kinds of genres, both on screen and stage over a three-decade career. Janney has been nominated for two Tony Awards and has been awarded an Academy Award as well as the British Academy Film Award. Janney was raised between Dayton and Boston by her parents, earned a scholarship through the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to further her education after graduating Kenyon College. Following a string of minor and uncredited film and television appearances her breakthrough came in her role as C. J. Cregg in The West Wing, an NBC political drama The West Wing (1999-2006), for which she received 4 Primetime Emmy Awards. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for the Best Guest Actress in the lead in a drama Series in the role of Margaret Scully's character in Masters of Sex. The most notable role she played was her performance as Bonnie Plunkett.
