
DeWitt started performing on stage at age 13. At 13 years old, DeWitt began to perform on the stage. She graduated with an Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. In the following year, as she was performing in summer productions, the director convinced her to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in addition to the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt stated that she had never met actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as a secretary during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is most famous for her part in Three's company's run from 1977 until 1984 as Janet Wood. This was an opportunity she was offered after she was cast in the second pilot. Janet was also featured in an episode of The Ropers in which she starred in in 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in the episode 1984 on Three's Company. Acting was her first foray back to the stage in June of 1991 when she was a performer on an episode of the Noises Off production in Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. In the following year she appeared in the TV comedy Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain aired a 1997 episode featuring characters based on her. The voice actor was another actress. The actress was also featured in an episode Cybill. [6] Her 2000s works include TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
